Design

The new Samsung Corby comes with replaceable back covers (also called “Fashion Jackets”) in various colour options such as Jamaican Yellow, Cupid Pink, Minimal White, and Festival Orange. All handset ships with a standard black cover also with the package. Also the sweeping curve design in the handset is both practical and fashionable. To complement the fashionable design, the Corby features a cool and unique Cartoon UI, making it the first phone to sport such a feature. The Cartoon UI displays Menu and Icons in cartoonish way and adds more fun to this trendy new full-touch screen handset. With a weight of only 93.2g, and thickness of 12mm, the Samsung Corby is light weight and thin.

The Samsung Corby comes with a 2.8-inch WQVGA TFT which provides exceptional video viewing experience. Samsung has included the new Touchwiz UI and haptic feedback system in Corby’s touch screen making its operations simple and easy to use. Users can customize the handset and interface with useful applications and widgets and can access the library of applications in Samsung’s online widgets store to find more. The handset also features smart features such as “one finger zoom” and “smart unlock, which is found in high end mobiles like Samsung Jet. The “One finger zoom” enables consumers to zoom in and out with one finger, while the “Smart unlock” feature enables users to unlock the phone and use the menu by drawing a letter on the screen.

The 2.0 Megapixel camera is not at the top-end but provides a usable resolution for an entry level handset. Video recording at QVGA resolution (15fps) is supported.

The phone lacks Wi-Fi, but its quad band connectivity and support for EDGE networks can make sure you can stay online.

Corby also comes with support for a wealth of social networking services such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter through a simple Pop-up SNS (Social Networking Service) notification feature. The handset has also plugged in support for all major video/image sharing sites such as Flicker, YouTube, and Picasa directly into the handsets user interface. Other features include FM Radio, Bluetooth, Java Support, External Memory Slot (up to 8GB), 960mAh battery and 3D sound.
